I complained about the DC Relaunch thing just below. But then I found this awesome video that sums up most of my feelings.
I still don't get how everything changes except for Batman. I guess Batman's just that awesome.

DC Relaunch
A while ago I complained about Batman dying and disregarded Grant Morrison and how he handled the character. Well, if I haven't already, I completely recant. I started reading what Morrison did next with Batman, and it was brilliant. Yes, Batman came back, but before that (and for awhile after, until this month's relaunch) Dick Grayson (former Robin, former Nightwing) took up the mantle with fantastic results. From Morrison's Batman and Robin to Scott Snyder's Detective Comics, Dick Grayson made for a great and fun Batman.
But now that all changes. Now the status quo is being reinstated. Kind of. Continuity is being rejiggered across the whole DC Universe. It seems all very confusing. I know it's a strategy to make DC comics appear simple and easier for newcomers to start reading, but I was having a blast in the current Batman world.
Granted, some of their new, rebooted/relaunched/renumbered titles look interesting, but I'm still kind of put off by the whole ordeal. So I'm going to wait. It sounds like most of these books will be telling 5-6 issue story arcs (or maybe I'm just making that up, I forget). So if I hear good things, I may pick up some titles when they are released in trade paperback collections. But for now, I think this is a good jumping off point for me when it comes to single issues from DC.
Except The Unwritten. Dang, that book gets better and better every month!

Voice
I once heard William Shatner say in an interview once that the internet has given everyone a voice, but not everyone has earned it. This is certainly true. Everyone and their mom can have a blog or website now. And most of them are completely worthless. Much like this blog.
Now, I've always thought that I had a voice (at least one with the written word) and that I had earned it through my own literary gifts and talents. But I think that was just ego. If I had a voice, why is this thing only updated a couple times a year, if that? Part of that is the reality that no one will read anything I write here. But no one will ever read anything here if I don't start writing.
So do I have a voice? Do I have something to say that someone might actually want to hear? I would like to think that I do. But until I actually try to speak, I'll never know.
Also, there's that whole self-promotion thing that I'm terrible. I'm no good at peddling my own wares, unlike the great Adam West.
And there's your Batman reference for the day.
